Lovely Sunday

My Sunday was just about as lovely as Sundays can be. This morning I went to visit Blake and Zoe, my twin niece and nephew, and of course their Mama, my sister in law Sara. Then Jonny and I came home, and all day we have been pitter-pattering around the house. All the windows are open and there's such a wonderful breeze. I'm not one who enjoys air-conditioning. I love seeing the the curtains blow and hearing the birds chirping!

I'm wearing a 30s dress that I got off Ebay three or four years ago. It's quite obvious that I've hemmed it shorter. It was down almost to my ankles. I don't know why I hemmed it so short, but this was years ago. I kinda wished it was a tad longer, but what can you do?! I adore its pockets and sweet little plastic buttons!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Sheet Music

Today, while I was out and about I couldn't resist stopping by my favorite vintage/antique shop. When I saw these pieces of sheet music I knew they would be perfect to frame for my new home! Don't you just love the sailor outfits on the "You Hit the Spot" sheet?!

Oh, and thank you all so much for your sweet comments about be new home! I'm having so much fun decorating everything. I'll be sure to have more pictures soon! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends! I'm off to go watch The Purchase Price with Barbara Stanwyck from 1931. It's part of the Forbidden Hollywood collection from TCM. Pre-code movies have become my new obsession!

Welcome to My World...

Won't you come on in? hehe! I've finally moved into my new home and I couldn't love it more! I'm not completely done decorating it yet, but here are some pictures of what I've done so far...

When you enter the back door this is what you see. The dining room and the kitchen.

This is the living room. I have yet to find the feet for our couch, so for now it sits right on the floor.

I've been listening to records like crazy! My new favorite record is Loretta Lynns, When I'm Over You.

Here is a little bit of my room. I love the closet, it's huge! I think I need more dresses to fill it up...hehe!

That's all for now, but I have so much more I want to show you! Including my Etsy/sewing studio. Have a lovely Friday!!! :o)

Sunday, August 23, 2009

This is what I wore to work on Friday. It's a 40s dress that I found recently for only $10! It has white buttons going up the side and the most fabulous mint green and white print. I promise to have pictures showing it's color better soon!

Tomorrow I'm moving into my new house and I couldn't be more excited! So, the next few days will be quite busy for me, and I won't have internet for a day or two. Though, I will have Jonnys smart phone! I will take pictures of the house as soon as I have everything nice and cute and I'll be sure to post them so you all can see.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend! Talk soon!!! :o)

Island of the Wild Ponies...

Meaghan, these are for you darlin'!!! ;o)

Today, Jonny and I took a trip to Assateague, the island of wild ponies! We're lucky enough to live only a few miles from this magical place. There have been ponies roaming this island since the 1600s!!! Some think the ponies came to the island when a Spanish galleon ship sank offshore. Others believe that colonial settlers brought the ponies to the island to graze. Just recently though a spanish ship wreck was discovered off the shores of Assateage. So, now most believe it's the Spanish ship that brought the ponies to their new home. That's my short history of the island! You can click the link above if you want to know more!

I'm also super excited about my new bike!! My Dad and Mom surprised me with it just yesterday. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures, but it's an Elvis Presley themed!! Could it be more perfect for me?!

Have a lovely week everyone!!! :o)

Farm Girl...

Today after work Jonny and I took a little drive to this wonderful abandoned old farm not far from home. I pass it a few times a week and always say how I want to stop someday and take pictures! The dress I'm wearing I thought would fit perfectly! It somehow reminds me of a girl back in the 40s, who of course lived on a farm, hehe. I wanted to get closer to the house, but Jonny was convinced we were being! Maybe next time :o)

Dress: 40s, from an antique shop in Maine

This summer my go to outfit has been this Lolita inspired playsuit! I received it a few weeks ago from the lovely and talented Heather, with a shop on Etsy, Loose Teeth, Tight Clothes. After watching the 1997 Lolita a couple months ago I have been obbsessed with the 1940s style clothes! My favorite outfit in the film happened to be the sailor playsuit Lolita wears in a couple of scenes. You can imagine how excited I was when I found Heathers shop and saw that she custom makes that exact playsuit! The rest is history! I was in love the moment I opened the package from Heather! Thank you so, so, so much Heather!!! I know this will be my favorite summer outfit for years to come!

Time to Catch Up!

I have some new things up in my Etsy shop!!!

Wow, this past week has flown by for me! Jonny and I have been living with family since we've moved down from Maine, but this past week we found a house. I love it!!! It's already partly furnished and it couldn't be more perfect! The furniture is all 1940s/1950s style. There's even an old typewriter from the 30s! I'll even have an entire room just for my studio! I can't wait to set it up all cute for my Etsy shop! The house is located in the cutest town too, with great old buildings. We move in, in just over two weeks.

This weekend family is visiting so I haven't had much time for blogging. Also, it's be kinda hard to blog because the internet where I'm staying isn't working right. It should all be fixed soon! In the meantime I've been coming to my Dads (where I am now) to go online.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend! I'll talk to you soon! :o)

Antique Alley

Today, Jonny and I took a rode trip up the highway and stopped at every antique store we saw. I never realized how many places there are to go within an hour of home! When I saw this vintage car at one of our stops I couldn't help but take pictures! If only I could haven't driven home in it, right!? I did get to take home quite a few wonderful vintage finds. Most of which will be going in my shop Monday or Tuesday. I'm quite excited about this batch, everything is from the 40s and 50s!

Right now I'm watching The Golden Girls and relaxing after a very busy day. Have a wonderful evening Darlings!
