The Dress I Made!



I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend! I sure did with the temps going all the way up into the 50's. Still not quite warm enough for me, but I'll take it anyway! So, here is the dress I made! I obviously got my inspiration from the vintage dress I lost on Ebay a couple weeks ago. This is only the second dress I have ever made, and I made it without a pattern so it was quite the challenge. I'm very happy with it though! It doesn't have pockets like the other dress, but I think I'll add those later. Take care!

PS: If you look closely you can see the few feet on snow we still have on the ground here. Thats why I can't venture off the porch just yet. :o)

    Its so pretty...good for you. I made my first last year, but need to learn how to use my sewing machine so I don't have to sew by hand. You look really pretty!

    Wow that is amazing! You did a really great job, the details are perfect! It really suits you, you look pretty as a picture.
    Hopefully the weather will warm up a bit so you can wear it out in the sunshine!

    I can't believe you made that yourself! The first time that I saw the dress, I thought it was actually really vintage. And that without a pattern. That must be pretty hard. But you did an amazing job! I even think the dress you made is prettier then the actual dress.

    You made that without a pattern? It's perfect!!! If I had your sewing skills I wouldn't bother buying vintage dresses off of Ebay--I'd just re-create them on my sewing machine. :)

    Oh, that's such a cute dress! I love the little lovely bow on it. It has such a spring-summer like feel to it, even if it works perfectly well while waiting for that time too :)

    Rhiannon:Yup I made it without a pattern. I measured everything before, then used chalk to mark the fabric. For the skirt I used a vintage dress with a skirt I liked and measured out the fabric from that. Takes lots of focus. Take Care!

    This is beautiful! I believe you really wanted this dress to do it yourself. In french we say "on n'est jamais mieux servi que par soi-même", it means : the best thing is the one you do yourself (excuse my english...). Well this is true! You really did a great job ;)

    And boy, do I know your pain! I do the EXACT same thing on eBay. I wish I could make a dress too, to satisfy that feeling of loosing my dream dress! :(

    i'm in aw. i've had my sewing machine collecting dust. so sad. i'm scared even to thread a bobbin. i need to start small projects and work myself up to making a dress on my own. i LOVE that you whipped up a dress without a pattern to follow! you are my hero!

    ps-bought a 60's red swing coat and only wish i could be wearing it now. 80 degrees isn't coat-appropriate weather.
