Inspired By...

Every once in awhile I find myself drawn to a certain picture of one of my fashion inspirations. This time my inspiration is the lovely Jean Seberg, in this picture. Jean Seberg is probably my biggest fashion muse. Maybe it's because her look seems more attainable for someone like me, than say...Marilyn Monroe. I've even been toying with the idea of chopping my hair into a pixie again. I'm not going to do anything drastic though...or maybe I will...lol! Anyway, this is my new dress from H&M. I love it! Oh and no this isn't the dress I was talking about yesterday. That's still to come.

Have a wonderful weekend Darlings!

  5. I know what you mean. Old movie stars pictures influence me as well.

Really nice your star inspired pictures. It shows us we, simple mortals, can be stars as well....and not a bit less charming then the movie ones.

  7. Hello! What a beautiful blog you have, thanks so much for posting on mine so I found it!

I love that dress, and you do look a lot like her it seems!

With regards to your dress question, it might be an idea to get in touch with the girl at Toprunway (http://stores.ebay.com/toprunway) as she has been known to get in custom fabric for some people I know so she may be willing to find you a stripe fabric, in which case you could get a copy made there. Otherwise, the best advice I have really is to look out for a similar vintage pattern and take it to a seamstress, as I haven't come across anyone making something similar... but I will keep my eyes peeled.

Actually there is one - I think the cost might be prohibitive for you being in America (though cheaper than it used to be!) but this lady makes repros from patterns and some of them look like they could be adapted to the Jean dress one: http://www.holmesmadeclothing.co.uk/pages/1940sdaydresses2.htm

She quoted me about £75 for a dress, not including fabric which you can either get yourself or get her to get it. Hope that helps and if anything else springs to mind I ill let you know! Have added your lovely blog to my reader and will put it on my blogroll today too!

  12. That's quite the lovely dress you're wearing! It seems as if everybody else finds the perfect pieces at H&M while I find next to nothing when I go!

Jean Seberg is one of those universal style inspiration girls - people always find something they like about her. I've noticed that she serves as an inspiration for girls with short hair, probably because of the fact that her hair is undeniably attainable (like you said).
