1940's Bathing Beauties

Most pictures found here others on google

I don't know about everywhere else, but here it's been hot! Around 90 degrees everyday. Believe me I'm not complaining, I love the heat! What do I think about when it's hot? Well bathing suits of course! Vintage bathing suits in particular, which I'm sure is no surprise, hehe. I came across most of these amazing photos a few weeks ago via Sarah's blog Miss Jane Elliot. I think they're some of the best vintage beach shots I've seen! I'd really like if all of these pretty suits suddenly appeared in my closet. Yeah, that'd be nice!
Well, today and tomorrow I'll be getting ready for our road trip to Tennessee, so no new posts for a few days. I'll be posting along the way so I won't be gone too long. I'm sure I'll have some exciting things to share with you while I'm down south! For now I'll leave you with these pretty pictures. Talk soon darlings!

PS: I've been updating my shop like crazy this week with some pretty items, including the white dress from my previous post. So take a peak!

  1. What pretty suits! I especially like that polka dot number in the first photo; how I'd love to stumble across something similar one day. Great post; thanks for sharing!

  2. Back when bathing suits were truly bathing suits! I wish they still sold these everywhere.

I'm live in Nashville, TN. Hope you come and see us!

  3. I love those photos! Vintage swimwear was so much cuter than the modern variations. I love the setting of those photos - I thought they looked like the lakefront at my college, and after clicking through, I realized they probably weren't that far away. I'll have to get a vintage suit for the next time I go out to reenact these shots.

  4. Great photos, I wish modern swimwear was half as stylish as these 1940s beauties.

  5. these photos are so cool. i love that first one. i think the blonde woman has the prettiest hairstyle. i'd love to have a similar bikini to the one in the last photo, but with a different print-maybe polka dots or florals! i'd love a bikini bottom that is somewhat modest like this one, yet still very pretty, and it's so nice that it doesn't fit so snug. i hate it when all my stuff is hangin' out. thanks for the cool retro swimsuit photos. have a nice trip to nashville!
