A New Source Of Inspiration

Rochelle Hudson in 1935

Just the other day I discovered the fabulousness of Tumblr! I'd heard of it here and there through other blogs, but really never gave it a second thought. Then the other day one of Casey's tweets lead me to her wonderful tumblr blog. Casey's tumblr made me immediately start my own. How had I been missing so many incredibly inspiring photographs all these months and months! Casey's tumblr lead me to lots of other great tumblr blogs that lead me to all of these awesome pictures...

This beauty was found on Casey's tumblr and Casey found it on The Cats Pajamas' flickr.

This is Angela Lansbury!

Pictures found here and here!

If you'd like to visit my tumblr go here! There you'll also find all the lovelies I follow. Hmmm, it seems like most of my recent inspiration posts are girls in the 1930's or 1940's wearing shorts, playsuits or bathing suits, lol! I guess it has something to do with the extra hot weather we've been having everyday. I love summer!!!

PS: My Nanny part 2 in a couple days!

Etsy Shop Update!

Here's just a taste of what I've been adding to my shop recently! The top dress is from my own collection and I adore it. I hope it finds a good home!
Clink the links below each item to be brought to it's page.

Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay

Halter Top: Wet Seal, like forever ago! I think I was 12 when I bought it...I never did grow into it, lol.
Shorts: Kensie Girl
Hat: Thrifted

Well, lake really! These pictures were taken while Jonny and I were still in North Carolina visiting my Papa. This lake is my Papa's backyard! This was the best place to spend the summer when I was a girl. Especially on hot southern days!
I hope you all have a wonderfully lazy Sunday!

My Nanny, Part 1

Nanny is on the left in this picture and the one below!

Here are the first of the pictures I want to share with you of my Nanny! There are so many that I'm going to be posting them in parts. I'll start with part one, which is pictures starting from the mid 1930's up to the early 1940's. My Nanny's name was Barbara Tucker. She was a freckled face redhead with the cutest laugh I've ever heard!

A high school pic!

Nanny is second from the left here!

I found all of these pictures in an album from when Nanny was a teenager. She had written the cutest little phrases under each photo! Next I'll be sharing more photos from that album, which I think might be some of my favorites! I hope you enjoy this little series I'll be doing!

PS: Thank you all so much for the sweet comments on my last two posts! Some of you asked were I got my bathing suit. Silly me forgot to post it, sorry! It's vintage from the 1950's and I bought it from the lovely shop 1385 on Etsy.

Like Old Times

1950's Bathing Suit: 1385

Today is Jonny and my second day in North Carolina visiting my Papa. We took at trip down to the lake so I could take a swim! Ever since I was a little girl I'd come to this spot to swim when I would visit my Nanny and Papa for the summer. My Papa would always swim under the water where I couldn't see him and grab my leg so I'd scream thinking the lake monster was going to eat me, lol! We've been having a wonderful time visiting and looking at old pictures of the family. I'm going to scan some of my Nanny and Papa back in the 1940's that I can't wait to show you! Soon we're off to dinner at the golf club to visit with some of Papa's friends.
Talk to you soon!

Nashville, Venus & Mars & A Blogger Meetup!

As you all know over the weekend Jonny and I traveled to Nashville, TN. On Saturday we had the pleasure of meeting Lauren of Blooming Leopold! Jonny and I met Lauren for coffee at a great cafe called Bongo Java. We had a blast chatting over iced coffee and getting to know each other!

After coffee Lauren took us next door to Venus and Mars, the vintage shop Karen Elson partly owns. Venus and Mars was my dream vintage shop come true!

Lauren tried on some adorable 1950's dresses. The girl looks fabulous is anything she puts on!

Then I spotted my dress! A little gingham number from the early 1960's.

We also met Lauren and her hubby Neil Sunday night for some more coffee drinking and chatting. I really had a fabulous time with Lauren and Neil! Lauren is one of the sweetest, funniest and joyful girls I've met! I love knowing that I'll be seeing Lauren in just over a month when we make our move to Nashville. I know we'll be hanging out lots more! Thanks Lauren for showing us around Nashville and being such a blast to hang out with! See you soon! ;o)

So much happened over the weekend, but I don't want to talk your ear so I'll give you a little list...
*Jonny and I found a perfect little apartment in a fun part of Nashville
*Our new place is walking distance from Anthropologie, a Betsey Johnson store, Whole Foods and so much more!
*While shopping at Anthropologie our first day in Nashville I was shopping right next to Karen Elson!!!! No kidding!
*So much good food and coffee!
*Good music
*Lovely landscapes
*Oh just so much wonderful!

1940's Bathing Beauties

Most pictures found here others on google

I don't know about everywhere else, but here it's been hot! Around 90 degrees everyday. Believe me I'm not complaining, I love the heat! What do I think about when it's hot? Well bathing suits of course! Vintage bathing suits in particular, which I'm sure is no surprise, hehe. I came across most of these amazing photos a few weeks ago via Sarah's blog Miss Jane Elliot. I think they're some of the best vintage beach shots I've seen! I'd really like if all of these pretty suits suddenly appeared in my closet. Yeah, that'd be nice!
Well, today and tomorrow I'll be getting ready for our road trip to Tennessee, so no new posts for a few days. I'll be posting along the way so I won't be gone too long. I'm sure I'll have some exciting things to share with you while I'm down south! For now I'll leave you with these pretty pictures. Talk soon darlings!

PS: I've been updating my shop like crazy this week with some pretty items, including the white dress from my previous post. So take a peak!
