By the Old Oak Tree

The weather has suddenly turned cooler so it was time for a nice warm coat. I found this one not too long back and it was meant for the shop, but it somehow found a home in my closet. Now that it's colder I find myself wearing boots almost everyday. It might be a bit of an odd pairing wearing my motorcycle boots with a girly dress, but somehow I feel like it works! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend! I have a couple new posts that I'm working on that I'm super excited about!

Jacket: 50s/60s vintage

My Mama in 1970

The other day my dear friend Meaghan did a post on her blog with pictures of her Mom when she was just a girl. I was so enchanted by Meaghans lovely post and her adorable Mom that I had to do a post in honor of my Mama. These pictures where taken in 1970 when my Mom was 17 years old. Most were taken by her Mom and Dad for her husband to be, a midshipman at the Naval Academy. My Mom gave me these pictures when I was 16 and they've been one of my most treasured possessions since. If I was just half as beautiful as my Mama was and IS, I'd be a very lucky girl! I hope you enjoy!

My Perfect Little Black Dress

A couple weeks ago Jonny told me that when I reached my 100th sale in my Etsy shop, I could get a very special dress. Well, I took this very seriously and started searching for that perfect dress long before that sale approached. Then I stumbled upon a new and wonderful little shop called Adeline's Attic. There were so many beautiful dresses I was overwhelmed! Dresses from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, ahhh, what a dream! Then, popped up this little 40s number, and that was it, I was in love! My perfect little black dress. Jonny was sweet enough to let me order it before my 100th sale. The funny thing is, is that it arrived in the mail the day of that sale! Perfect ;o)

Coat: Banana Republic
Purse: Chanel, I think, but I dunno, it's beautifully made.

The Girl in the Black Helmet

Happy Friday everyone! Today, I have some work to get done, but after that I'm going to get started reading my new Louise Brooks biography. I don't know much about Louise, except for the movies that I've watched and by the back of my book it sounds like she was a bit of a wild gal. It's going to be a great read indeed! In the meantime I thought I'd share some fabulous pictures of "The Girl in the Black Helmet." Talk soon my dears! :o)

All pictures found on google.

The Long and Dusty Road

I'm back! Sorry it's been so long since my last post! This past weekend I wasn't feeling too well and I hate to admit I hardy got out of my yoga pants. Today, I feel like my old self again, yay! Since I was home and not doing much these past few days I don't have lots to talk about. Though, I did receive the most wonderful dress in the mail this afternoon from Adeline's Attic on Etsy! I'll be sharing it very soon! Hugs!

My New Hair and My Cat Patsy

Yesterday I got a haircut and I couldn't be happier! I feel like one of the rehearsing girls in a Busby Berkeley musical number! My outfit is 100% inspired by those tapping gals of the past. I'd been thinking about cutting my hair for months. Finally I took the leap! Thanks Erin for inspiring my cut!

Oh yes, the adorable little fuzzball is Patsy Cline!

Indian Summer

Today, was such a beautiful and warm day! 70 degrees in November! I was so busy today, but had a quick second to stop by a little park close to my house. I'd never been there before and was so surprised to come across this little cemetery in the woods. The graves were all from the 1800s! I plan on going back sometime soon to take better picture for you all to see. My dress is from the 30s. Aren't the little flowers cute!? Well, that's all for now. I hope everyone is doing well!

Oh, I have a hair appointment on Wednesday! I'm so excited! Pictures to come...

In the Wilderness

Happy Friday everyone!

Today, was a day filled with vintage hunting, coffee shops and a walk in the woods. I found the fabulous 40s coat I'm wearing just this morning. I love it so and it's very warm! Isn't the 40s dress I'm wearing the sweetest!? I love all of the little details! (Both might be going in my shop soon...) Well, that's all for now. Have a great weekend!

PS: I've been adding things to my shop everyday this week, so check it out! My new plan is to list items Monday through Friday. So, even if I don't mention it here you can follow me on twitter for all of the updates!

Girl in Red

Hi all! This is what I wore today to go thrifting and make a stop at the bank. Yes, rather dressed up I know, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do, hehe. The lovely dress I'm wearing is from S. Vintage on Etsy. I think it must be the oldest wearable dress I own. It's from the 1930s and is in amazing condition! It even still has the original rayon slip, which I often wear around the house. I love it!

I hope everyone had a nice Halloween! I was recovering from a cold so didn't do much. Jonny and I watched Interview with a Vampire. A movie I haven't seen for years. The last time I saw it was when it was in the theaters, when I was nine, haha! Maybe that's why I have a high tolerance for scary movies. Anyway, I hope you all are doing well! Talk soon!
