A Walk on the Beach

Today was cold and grey, so I just stayed home and did some studying. The sun finally came out when Jonny got home, so we went for a stroll on the beach. We are so lucky to live so near to the water!
My hair was having a wild day so i decided just to go with it, then I had to put my hat on...lol! For me I find it's very hard to find a hat that I like, this is one of the few I own. I bought it at a local shop here in town. It's got to be one of my favorites! Hope everyone is having a pleasant Tuesday!

Lovely Saturday!

Today was a wonderful day! Jonny and I went into town and had a sushi lunch date. After lunch we walked to the bookstore, I was very pleased to find the new issue of Lula there. It started raining right when we decided to take some pictures! I love the rain so it only made my day more lovely...

A Fun Video Clip of Me!

As you might know already, I'm a very big Elvis fan. I have been for as long as I can remember. Of course it's always been disappointing knowing that I will never meet the man-considering he died eight years before I was born! Anyway, the above video is a pretty funny glimpse into my Elvis fandom! Hope you enjoy, and get a giggle out of it!

Inspiration

I think Zooey Deschanel looks adorable here. Just my style, you gotta love sailor inspired looks! For all fan's she graces the cover of the new issue of Nylon, if you hadn't heard already. It's a great article!

1940's Jacket

Here I'm wearing my latest vintage find! It's a 1940's jacket that I found while scavenging a new antique shop that I found a few days ago. It has the most wonderful collar! I hope you can see it in the last picture. The Seychelles booties I'm wearing are my new favorite fall item. Happy Thursday!

Splendor in the Grass

Splendor in the Grass stars Warren Beatty (in his first movie roll) and one of my favorite actresses of all time Natalie Wood. This film was made in 1961,  but takes place in 1920's Kansas. Below is a preview of Splendor in the Grass...

Cozy Day!

Today, I just stayed home and did things around the house, so I wanted to be comfy. I'm in the process of writing out wedding thank you cards. I've been procrastinating quite a bit, I'm afraid. So, to all my family and friends...they are coming soon! Hope everyone has had a pleasant Tuesday!

John and Mary!

John and Mary is a film from 1969 starring Dustin Hoffman and Mia Farrow. I first saw this film about a year ago on television and fell in love with it. It's about two single people living in New York, who one night go home together. It mostly takes place the next day when they are getting to know each other. This film is very fun to watch and Mia Farrow is adorable! Also, I don't think I've ever seen Dustin Hoffman so young and handsome. Hope you enjoy!

Lazy Sunday!

Today was just a lazy Sunday for me. The most exciting thing that happened was I found the new issue of Bust at the bookstore. Yay! Of course, even though I was just going to the bookstore I had to dress up a little.
I also want to thank everyone who has been leaving such lovely comments on my blog! Hope everyone's weekend is going well!

Amazingly Useless Facts About Me!

Yay, I've been tagged! It's exciting to be tagged when your a new blogger. Thanks Rhiannon

What are the last three things you purchased?

A pair of oxford heels, a couple of dresses from Forever 21, and a vintage 1940's dress.

What are the last three songs you downloaded?

Coldplay's new album Viva La Vida. Soundtrack from the motion picture Once. A bunch of Elvis songs. Though right now I'm mostly listening to Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra.

What are the last three places you visited?

I went to Memphis, Tennessee to visit Graceland and hung out on Beale Street. I went to Bar Harbor Maine for my honeymoon which was so beautiful. Maryland to visit family.

What are your three favorite movies?

There are too many, but I'll try. I must have seen Walk the Line 50 times! It's also the movie Jonny and I saw on our first date. The Color Purple is wonderful, I've never cried so hard during a movie. Breathless with Jean Seberg. I have a little obsession with Jean Seberg at the moment. Also, I must admit that I enjoy almost every Woody Allen film I see. I just watched Alice with Mia Farrow last night.

What are your three favorite possessions.

My cat Patsy Cline, my wonderfully worn in Frye boots, and my sewing machine.

What three things can you not live without?

I could never live without my hubby Jonny, music, and fresh air!

What would be your three wishes?

I would love to be able to fly. To become a successful designer one day, and to live on a farm with lots of animals.

What three things haven’t you done yet?

I haven't yet been able to visit Paris, or speak french well enough to go there. Also, I really want to learn to sew better. I really want to start making my own designs.

What are your three favorite dishes?

I can't live without my cereal in the morning, pancakes, and chicken with veggies.

Which three celebrities would you most like to hang out with?

They're mostly going to be dead, I'm afraid. Elvis, I've loved him forever! Audrey Hepburn, and Steve Carrel, who's not dead of course. When I was little I always wanted to meet Bob Hope. Also, I adore James Garner! That's more than three, I know.

Name three things that freak you out?

Flying, very large thunderstorms, the idea of being on a boat in the middle of the ocean. I think I watched Titanic one to many times when I was younger...ha!

Name three unusual things you are good at.

Curling my lip to the tune of any song I know well enough. Winning Elvis trivia contests, and knowing all the lyrics to very old songs. When I was little my Mom and I would go to nursing homes and have sing-a-longs, so most of the songs we sung were from the 20's and 30's.

Which three things are you coveting?

Anything from Chloe! I've been looking for the perfect vintage 1930's dress, but have yet to find it. Frye Adrienne oxfords in brown!

Name three bloggers you are tagging.

Melissa from moonshineandpiffle!

Francis from mudonmyteadress!

Old Church

Today, on the way home I stopped at an old church by my home. Ever since I started this blog I've realized how many wonderful places there are to take pictures. The weather is really feeling like fall has arrived, so I had to wear my favorite hat. I bought it second hand a couple of years ago, I probably wear it every single day during the winter. It also helps those bad hair days tremendously.

My Favorite Wife

My Favorite Wife has got to be one of my new favorite movies! It stars the very charming Cary Grant and the lovely Irene Dunn. It's a hilarious comedy about a man who thinks his wife died seven years ago in a plane crash. Well, there's a very funny twist. I think you will love!

Military Fort

Today, after running around like crazy getting errands done, my Mom and I decided to go to this old fort on or way home. It was a perfect day for pictures. I'm yet again dressed like a sailor. I've always had a thing for sailor pants. I remember getting my first pair when I was seven years old. I think it had something to do with my Shirley Temple obsession. Ever since then sailor clothing has been a staple in my wardrobe.

Fashion Inspiration

I've always admired the way Keira Knightley puts herself together. She never seems over done to me. This outfit inparticular I love. Hope you like!

Foggy Beach

Today after Jonny dragged me to the opening of the new Apple Store in our area we decided to go to the beach on our way home. It was so beautiful with the fog we had to take some pictures. I always have my camera in my purse. It was pure coincidence that I was in my sailor dress! Also you probably noticed a big difference in my hair! I loved being blonde, but wanted to try something new for the fall. We'll see how long it last! Happy Saturday!

Polka Dot Dress

Vintage dress from ebay
Vintage belt
Shoes are Naturalizer

Today I wasn't really in the mood for having my picture taken. I took some anyway and found one good one out of the bunch. Jonny of course photoshopped it for me...lol. Hope you like!

Scarlett

I was looking through all my old pictures today and I found this one of Scarlett Johansson. I think it's just beautiful. I searched all summer for a dress similar to this one, but came up short. Oh well...

Hopefully today I will get some more wardrobe pictures up, it's a stormy day here so I haven't had much of a reason to get dressed. Later though I do have to go get my hair done, so we'll see.

Marilyn Monroe

For all Marilyn fans, she's on the new issue of Vanity Fair!

Sunday Afternoon

It was so beautiful today Jonny and I decided to do a photo shoot. Now I'm off to the bookstore to see if Lula has made it to New England yet! Probably not.

Jean Seberg

Im now in the middle of reading Jean Seberg's biography, and watching every movie she was ever in. I love this picture of her! I have always had short hair, but now I'm wondering if I should go this short. I think its fabulous! This picture is from the movie Breathless. Its another French film, from 1959 I believe.

Wedding Pic!

I thought since I shared pictures of me in my wedding dress not at my wedding, that I should show you a wedding picture. This is me and my Jonny!

My Wedding Dress, Worn in a Different Way!

                                                                                   Vintage Sweater
                                                                                   Betsy Johnson Dress
                                                                                   Vintage Belt
                                                                                   Vintage Shoes

The dress I'm wearing is my Wedding Dress! I found it months before my wedding and knew it was was made for me. I haven't worn it since I got married this past July. Today I thought was a wonderful day to wear it again. I thought it would cheer me up, due to the fact I haven't been feeling to well lately. I love this dress so much and think it fits my style perfectly.

The Umbrellas of Cherourg

Last night I watched a wonderful French film, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg! This film is so colorful and beautiful to watch. Catherine Deneuve is lovely as she always was. Every word in this movie is sung, which at first I wasn't sure I would enjoy. I was wrong of course. The clothes are unbelievable too. I would say its a must see for classic movie fans.
