Swing, Brother Swing!
I found a boater!!! Well a version of a boater. I was thrilled when I went to the Salvation Army yesterday and found this lovely hat among a pile of straw cowboy hats. When I got home and had the time to really look in the mirror and figure out how to wear it, I couldn't stop myself from dancing! Mind you I'm not the best dancer. It's been since I was about ten that I've attempted tap dancing. In fact I felt much more like little Edie Beale than Gene Kelly...lol! I'm telling you I must have danced around the house for about an hour! Anyway, I had a blast! Oh yes, and the dress I'm wearing is my new love! I just received it in the mail from Spanish Moss Vintage. Take care darlings! :o)

Spring Thaw
Today was a lovely day! The snow is finally melting away...hopefully for good this time.
I'm so excited about the jacket I'm wearing! I found it yesterday at Forever 21 for only $20! I don't usually shop there but with my new job I needed some cute tops. I found only one top, but this jacket made the trip worth while. Also, I have some great new spring goodies that I can't wait to share with you. Including a pair of high-waisted sailor shorts...yay!
I hope you all have a wonderful end to your weekend! Talk soon :o)

Grey Gardens
I first saw the documentary Grey Gardens with my Mom a few years ago. I fell instantly in love with Little Edie Beale and her mother Big Edie. While watching my Mom and I didn't know wether to laugh or cry! Though mostly we did laugh, because strangely enough we could kind of relate. So, I can't tell you how excited I am to see the HBO movie coming out this April telling more about their lives. The movie stars the adorable Drew Barrymore as Little Edie and the fabulous Jessica Lange as Big Edie. Not only am I excited to learn more about these two ladies but just look at the costumes!!!! Yay!
PS: I want to thank all of you for the wonderful comments you left on my last post! Also, I'm so sorry about the lack of post this past week! I started a new part-time job and had a cold so I didn't feel up to blogging. Talk soon!!!

The Dress I Made!
I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend! I sure did with the temps going all the way up into the 50's. Still not quite warm enough for me, but I'll take it anyway! So, here is the dress I made! I obviously got my inspiration from the vintage dress I lost on Ebay a couple weeks ago. This is only the second dress I have ever made, and I made it without a pattern so it was quite the challenge. I'm very happy with it though! It doesn't have pockets like the other dress, but I think I'll add those later. Take care!
PS: If you look closely you can see the few feet on snow we still have on the ground here. Thats why I can't venture off the porch just yet. :o)

Gatsby Wedding!
Another reason I'm super excited for this trip is because I will be stopping in New Orleans on the way! I've always wanted to go to New Orleans and I'll be staying for two nights. Yay! I'm sure I will have some great pictures to share with you after this adventure!
PS: This weekend I'll have some pictures of a dress I just finished making. I tried to make one similar to the lovely I lost on Ebay the other week. Until next time!

Lovely Lady!
The lovely Ann Margret has got to be one of my favorite inspirations! The first time I ever saw her was in the movie Viva Las Vegas, no surprise there...hehe. After that I wanted to be her, and not only because she had the affections of Elvis. I wanted her voice, her hair, her style, everything! Yes, when I was a teenager I even had long red hair. When I was 15 my family took me to see her in person in the play The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. When she came out onstage I was laughing and crying all at once. I couldn't believe she was right there! Then, when I was looking through my binoculars to get a closer look, Ann Margret looked right at me with a grin on her face! I probably stuck out like a sore thumb in my hot pink dress. Anyway, I didn't have the guts to look through my binoculars the rest of the night...haha. So if you have yet to discover Ann Margret you must! She's in every kind of film from Bye Bye Birdie to Grumpy Old Men. :o)
