Island of the Wild Ponies...

Meaghan, these are for you darlin'!!! ;o)

Today, Jonny and I took a trip to Assateague, the island of wild ponies! We're lucky enough to live only a few miles from this magical place. There have been ponies roaming this island since the 1600s!!! Some think the ponies came to the island when a Spanish galleon ship sank offshore. Others believe that colonial settlers brought the ponies to the island to graze. Just recently though a spanish ship wreck was discovered off the shores of Assateage. So, now most believe it's the Spanish ship that brought the ponies to their new home. That's my short history of the island! You can click the link above if you want to know more!

I'm also super excited about my new bike!! My Dad and Mom surprised me with it just yesterday. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures, but it's an Elvis Presley themed bike...lol!! Could it be more perfect for me?!

Have a lovely week everyone!!! :o)

I am SO envious! I read "Misty of Chincoteague" about 90 times as a kid ... I know it's a different island, but still. What an amazing experience, lady!

What a lovely bike! Going to see the ponies was one of my favourite things about visiting my nana as a kid. We even read all the books about them. There is nothing more peaceful then watching the ponies run wild.

That is so neat! I would run around kissing any pony I met. I love the photos of you on that bike, so brave! I've always wanted to try that for a blog post but am terrified I will be distracted and fall off.
