Inspiration Friday, Mademoiselle Magazine 1960

Original Source

I fell in love with this editorial from Mademoiselle Magazine from 1960 when I saw it on the blog, When Decades Collide. 1960 is probably my favorite year in fashion. In my opinion the hemlines were just perfect and the skirts just the right fullness, among other things. The early 60's are just so me. Maybe it has something to do with watching movies like GI Blues, Blue Hawaii and Gidget a million times growing up... ;)
Happy March! Spring is near! I hope you all have a lovely weekend. xo

Love these to bits!! The lilac ginghams on the first page are giving me butterflies; so perfect for Springtime!

I'm with you, 1960 is the perfect year for fashion; I love the silhouettes of the 1950s mixed with the bright colors and fun makeup of the '60s :)

What pretty illustrations! I agree with you, I also love the fashion of the early 1960's. There's just something about the silhouettes and colors, I think it has to do with mixing a bit more fun in to the more classic styles of the past.

ps: I always get excited whenever you put a new post up lol your blog is by far my favorite of all the ones I read (and I read plenty!) haha <3

I am loving the two piece looks! Can't wait for the weather to warm up so I have an excuse to pull out a certain cherry print two-piece set that I got last summer and didn't get to wear nearly enough! *wink*

I love the prints of the early 60's; they're joyful and exuberant, and they always catch my eye at estate sales and flea markets! The illustrations are definitely my favorite part of this particular editorial. They remind me of the ads Marcel Vertes illustrated for Elsa Schiaparelli's perfumes back in the 40's.
