My Nanny in the 1940's

Happy Wednesday! These are just some of the pictures of my Nanny when she was a teenager back in the early 1940's. You can't tell from these photo's, of course, but my Nanny had the most wonderful red hair and a face full of freckles! One of my favorite pictures is still yet to come!

Also, I can now say that I am truly obsessed with Little Edie of Grey Gardens. I'm lucky enough to have HBO on demand so I've already watched the new Grey Gardens film with Drew Barrymore FIVE times...lol. I can't get enough! My adorable hubby even sits and watches bit's with me and always leaves saying, "This is great! I have to watch the documentary again!" I love him! Have a great day everyone! :o)

I'm really entchanted by both Edies, but Big Edie mostly from her younger years, as a too bohemina for the hamptons housewife. She was such a beauty when she was young. But still more of Little Edie, just like you. Can't wait to see the movie version of them, or the documentary as a whole (Iäve seen it only in bits and pieces on the web...

And lovely pics. Iadore the old pics of my grandparents too. Both my grandfathers were real hunks :D

What a beautiful and stylish gal! I wish I had her outfits... lol! I love seeing family photos; they always seem so fun! I've been trying for years to get some photos of my Nana when she was my age back in the 40s; apparently she was quite a looker and had her own sense of unique style too. Alas, haven't been able to get any of those yet... ;)

That is too cute about your husband watching GG with you! ;)

oh, she was beautiful indeed :) I wish I had more photos of my grandmothers in their teens.

I've heard so much about the Grey Gardens now... I'm quite intrigued. I wonder if I can download it somewhere?

Is the new movie as good as the old documentary? Does Drew do it justice?

She was gorgeous.

I just adore the 1940s fashion especially the bathing suits.

This reminds me when I was looking at my Gigi's pictures.

Your grandma was adorable! How lucky that you have such cute and fashionable photos of your grandma and mom!!!

Oh, and I haven't seen the G.G.movie yet so I'm glad to hear that you like it! Also that's just wonderful that your husbands loves the documentary! I have a feeling my boyfriend would hate it, which makes me sad because it's really one my favorite things.
